Singapore is known as the jewel of Southeast Asia and is a popular travel destination for good reasons so if you are planning a visit in 2024, there are some amazing local attractions to add to your itinerary. In this short post, I share 5 attractions in Singapore that are well worth putting on your must-visit list.
Marina Bay Sands – regarded as one of the top attractions of this vibrant island state and who are we to argue? Aside from the luxurious 5-star hotel, the complex includes a high-end shopping mall and a great observation deck to view the Singapore skyline. Let’s not forget the Art Science Museum, which is also within this attraction. This is the venue that is home to the largest infinity pool in the world. If you’re staying at the plush Pullman Singapore Orchard, you are only a few minutes walk from Marina Bay Sands
Merlion Park – Another iconic venue, this waterfront park is home to the lion statue that we all identify with the bay. This park is always full of locals and tourists alike and is a great place for photos; ideal for Instagram, especially in the evening, when you have a stunning view of Marina Bay Sands, with the reflection of the lights in the water.
Sentosa Island – A fantastic place to take the kids, Sentosa Island has 3 main beaches; Palawan, Siloso and Tanjong Beach. There are many great bars and restaurants where you can enjoy the sunshine and the cool breeze, while free shuttle buses take you where you want to go on the island. Be warned, Sentosa Island is very busy at weekends, best to arrive early.
Little India – Take a stroll down Arab Street and enjoy the aroma of eastern spices; Little India is like a time warp; you are transported to a place where mosques and temples line the street. Located east of the Singapore River, this ethnic community has a long and colourful history. The main thoroughfare is Serangoon Road, with the Tekka Centre, Little India Arcade and Serangoon Plaza, to name but a few of the main features.
Gardens by the Bay – A futuristic park with a blend of lights and stunning natural beauty, this is a must-visit for every tourist, indeed, most visit more than once. There is an amazing light show twice every evening, which is well worth watching. A great place for families, locals crowd this venue every evening, strolling along and taking in the sights.
