Oddsocks Bar & Kitchen Lunch review

15/03/2018

Lunch date

I had the chance to visit the recently opened Oddsocks Bar and Kitchen, a part of the Jurys Inn just off Queen street. It's always great seeing new eateries pop up in Cardiff and the first thing that stood out when walking in, besides the friendly welcome was the stylish and refreshed interior with wood panelling and variety of different seating areas and full of natural light making it the perfect spot to sit, relax and people watch through the large windows.

Wood panelling

I really like the unfussy and fairly simple menu that offers something for both vegetarians and meat-eaters and even though I didn't have the kids with me, they also have a Little Socks menu for the younger diner. We decided to share a starter to get things going and went for some cheese Nachos with sour-cream, jalapeƱos and salsa and the portion was surprisingly big and perfect for sharing, you could also add Chilli to them and make it more of a meal than a snack. The presentation was really good too with separate dishes for the toppings and the Nachos being served on fun printed newspaper.

For the main I decided to try out the vegetarian Mezze salad topped with Avocado and it was delicious, really fresh and with the feta cheese and new potatoes added into the mix it was very filling, in fact I just couldn't finish it.

Even though I was really full we decided to try one of the delicious desserts and went for the cheesecake with raspberry coulis, it was surprisingly light and and not overly rich which was perfect to finish the meal. The atmosphere during the lunch was really relaxing and is certainly somewhere we would re-visit. You don't have to be a guest at the hotel to enjoy Oddsocks, in fact it's very much its own entity. A lovely addition to the every growing foodie scene in Cardiff.
