We have been making the most of the recent dry start to Autumn by getting outdoors as much as possible, even though the weather is clearly changing and the days have a certain bite in the air that reminds you winter will soon be here, it's been a really fantastic time to get out and connect with nature. Autumn has got to be one of the most visually inspiring seasons with some many changes in the forest as the floor slowly becomes covered in golden brown leaves, perfect for jumping in.
Another reason why we love Autumn is it's time to celebrate being cosy, layering and switching up the wardrobe. In fact I would probably have to say this seasons shades of brown and orange and Aztec and Navaho patterns are my favourite as well as bit knits, natural fabrics and boots. John recently picked up this thick Ralph Lauren shirt on sale and paired it up with a Patagonia backpack and his Red Wing boots which are going into the 14th year of being worn - now thats longevity!
We have spent the past two weekends exploring the trails of Fforest Fawr around the Castle Coch area which is an ancient wood with lots to discover from an old Mine and the three bears Cave as well as a sculpture trail and various smaller paths that offshoot from the main trails. We first did the shorter circular walk, making dens a long the way and then the following weekend we went back and did a longer circular walk and ended up have coffee at a beautiful Forest Cafe before making our way back up to the castle.
I love adventures that are relaxed and you just enjoy the walk and surroundings without thinking about the destination as we always give ourselves enough time to not have to rush or be anywhere. The longer circular walk to most of half a day and gave me the chance to put my new Sprayway jacket from Blacks to the test. It's lovely and warm especially in the fresh morning air and the furry hoody is a nice touch and will be handy on those cold winter days. Best of all it's water-proof making it perfect for British weather and perfectly combines practically and style together in a seamless way and I am sure I am going to get plenty of use out during these colder months.
Thanks to spray way for sending the jacket for review
