A blissful day in St Regents Park

smelling flowers

Last week we were lucky enough to have an amazing family trip via eurostar to Brussels (lots of posts to come soon) and on our return we arrived back in the UK during the bank holiday weekend and spent a night in London. We had the whole of sunday to enjoy the sun in the capital and since we where stay in the Travelodge Euston we decided to walk to Regents Park and what a blissful day it was.

I never really understand why some people say that inner-city kids in London don't have a chance to explore the outdoors. Whenever we have been to London as a family we have never had any problems finding amazing places outdoors to explore and I cannot recommended Regents park enough - with beautiful gardens, a boating lake, allotments, cafes, cycle tracks an football fields you could easily spend all day here.

The little man loved running around and smelling all the flowers. The boating lake was beautiful and we decided to take a little ride around the lake, which the little man loved, he enjoyed playing captain.

It was a perfect way to spend the last leg of our holiday and to enjoy the outdoors before heading back on the train to Cardiff. Since we had quite a bit of luagge with us and we were pretty exhausted and the train was packed we decided to take advantage of the cheap first class upgrades on weekends. it only cost us £15 extra and since we didn't spend as much money as we thought on our holiday by adhering to the tips I shared in a post about staying in budget when travelling with kids, it was a nice treat for all of us.

  5. I agree with you, my family in Belgium thinks my son doesn't see animals, is in a polluted environment, doesn't see other kids, doesn't have the opportunity to run long distances!! It's so the opposite, and it would be so true if we were living in their city where I grew up!!!

  11. Just planning a birthday/anniversary trip to London for me and Martyn. Was the first class upgrade £15 each? I do fancy that :) Also was the travelodge ok? Would rather spend money on fun things and food than the hotel x
