Simple, beautiful, my kind of place (image via Pinterest) |
Most people, when
they are young, have the same dream they want to reach – having a
success and recognition, a loving family and a big, cozy and
comfortable house in the safe and secure neighborhood, with a nice
yard and a picket fence. And this picture stimulates people for the
actions needed to make it true.
In case you feel you
are ready to make such a big move, there are some things you should
learn before you plunge right into the real estate market. The good
planning and the tips you follow will increase your chances for
finding the perfect home for you at the affordable price. Here are
the five tips for you to follow during your house search.
Stay stylish and inspired while still being realistic (image via Pinterest) |
- Keep it Realistic
Wanting too much
while having too little chances and possibilities is a thing that
will lead you nowhere, if not worse. Shopping for the real estate
above the financial limits that you have is not smart, thus keep it
mind when looking for the perfect house. Think well – do you really
need extra bedrooms and multiple bathrooms, couple acres of land and
brand new amenities and gadgets, or not? Review your needs and
preferences and remember – stay realistic.

- Tidy up your credit
Taking into
consideration the state of the market today, getting the mortgage may
not be as easy as it used to be before. That is why you should take
care of your credit and make sure it looks tidy and nice. Find a free
credit report and see some ways to shore the things up. Having a good
co-signer will increase your odds on succession. Do your best to stay
away from the adjustable-rate mortgage.
- Do your research.
Go online to learn
the situation on the market. See what houses are available, which
neighborhoods are the friendliest and what prices there are at the
moment. Look through some UK ads
online to see what you can find.
- Make a list of must-haves
What do you want to
see in your dream house? Before getting into the search, make a list
of priorities and utilities you want to see in your dream package –
a garden, safe neighborhood or a good school somewhere around. These
are the basic needs of most people. Staying realistic try making a
list of your own must-haves, and later compromise it with yourself
and narrow it, so that you end up with having the real musts on the
list.
- Learn everything about the house
When you find the
house you like and which can really be your dream home that you’ve
been looking for, you should learn more about it. Your investigation
should include information about previous owners and the history of
maintenance of the house, the neighborhood itself, check of the wires
and pipes operating. Check as well if the appliances operate well,
and if there are no physical damages. In order not to have a surprise
when there is a heavy rain outside, see how the roof and the ceiling
is holding up.

- Be ready to build
I'm hoping to move out next year, can't wait to design the place myself haha x

I think it's so important to see the potential in a property, so many people are put off by what it looks like when they view it instead of considering what it could become.
ReplyDeleteHi Pippa
DeleteI think so too, my parents renovated many houses and ones that were in total disrepair so I always look at what things could be, rather than what is presented in front of you

We are house hunting at the moment and I have written a list of what we want- but keeping it realistic. For example- we want some outdoor space, but a courtyard will do if we cant afford a 100ft lawn, and on road parking is good enough if we cant afford a drive. However lovely our new home will be, if we cannot afford to ever do anything but sit in it, it would soon become a gilded cage, so we are very strict about sticking to our budget!
ReplyDeleteHi Sonya
DeleteIt's really difficult - we have small bedrooms but large living spaces as we felt that was important at this point in time and we don't have off street parking but a decent garden - it's all about give and take

Great advice. All the things I am trying to take into consideration before getting up on the ladder. Side note, I love that first picture. Reminds me of my the decor in my flat.

A really great bunch of tips here. We did have our house on the market, but took it off in the end and decided to stay put - renovating instead! I will have my dream kitchen by hook or by crook! x
