The two boys enjoying a spring day in striped |
Don't you think it's always good to have things to look forward to? At this time of year, we're all dying to get past the dreary, rainy weather to warmer, sunnier days. Just imagine, soon the sun will be shining, the ground will be dry and we'll all be looking forward to our summer holidays - bliss!
So, looking ahead to brighter times, there's so much that's going to be popular fashion-wise this coming spring and summer. It's never too early to start sourcing some ideas for spring wear, plus doing so gives us hope and encouragement! Read on for what's hot news in the fashion world in 2014.
1. DIY is very much on trend right now, so bring out the craft kit and start customising your old designer handbags or purses, tastefully mind!
2. On the more expensive side, it's all about logos this spring, so carefully invest in a couple of key pieces which proudly display your favourite brand, whether a bag, a sweater or even a pair of sunglasses.
3. '90s minimalism is back, baby, so luxurious, yet understated items such as miniskirts, washed denim jeans and casual jackets should make up your capsule wardrobe
4. Pastels are going to be all the rage, as soft rainbow shades prevail on the catwalks in every colour under the sun, from baby-blue, to minty-green, to lilac. Choose the shades that most flatter your colouring and go for it!
5. Prints are firmly in favour this spring, in bold loud colours and with lots of contrasts. Choose between zigzags, Aztec designs or dainty polka dots.
6. Short sleeve collared shirts teamed with mid-length skirts are also in vogue, making the perfect transition outfit from lunch with the girls to a night on the town.
7. Forget Motorcycle jackets, we're talking non-Moto this spring with a charming boxy, cropped look which you can wear in a wide variety of prints and patterns, teamed with skirts, skinny jeans or even bodycon dresses for an edgy look.
8. Orange is in this season and it has been spotted all over the catwalk, as a lipstick colour and as a hot choice for shoes, bags and even dresses.
9. Low-heeled pumps (think '80s) will be huge, so make your choice between white, bright pink or black lace as soon as possible. Lastly, big, bold earrings are certainly au courant - just make sure you don't end up looking like Pat Butcher!
10. If you're feeling really fed up with the weather, why not start planning your beach wardrobe at the same time? Havaianas Flip Flops are very popular this spring, as are classically cut one-piece swimsuits. You might also like to get your hands on some boardroom surf shorts, a funky statement item which breaches the divide between work and play. Don't forget your oversized sunglasses in a bright neon shade to finish off the look.
We hope you have fun planning your spring wardrobe. Anything that brightens up these tedious months is more than welcome as far as we're concerned!
