Me and my best friend with the view of table mountain in the background |
This is the first time I am doing a Travel Tuesday post and I thought I better start right at the beginning. Both John and I have done quite a bit of travel and John will feature in this weekly post as well but for now this is my journey with a little bit of my background. Basically, I was born and grew up in South Africa, to a South African father and a Welsh mother.
My father and I on Hout Bay beach, Cape Town |
My father would work very long hours so he could save and take us to the UK for a few months every 2 years so my mother could see her family and while we were in Europe we always visited other countries such as Greece, France, Germany, Austria, Holland, Belgium, Spain and across the pond to the US. We went without at times so we could do these big trips but I have some amazing memories and it sparked my love for travel and I hope I can do the same for my little man Mr A.
My brother and I in Paris - my sense of style was somewhat missing at this age |
Me and my brother in Athens |
Even when I was a child London was one of my favourite cities |
I left South Africa and my family at the crazy age of 16, to venture the UK on my own (what was I thinking!) and called Edinburgh my home for a year before moving to Wales. I returned back to Cape Town, my home city when I was 19 for what should of been a four week holiday but instead turned into a two-year working trip which ended up with me taking a cargo ship from South Africa to the UK - it took 28 days and was a life-changing experience.
I have been lucky enough to travel to 23 different countries and live in Cape Town - South Africa, Edinburgh - Scotland, Cardiff - Wales, Falmouth - Cornwall, Nice - France and Amsterdam in Holland.

I truly think that travel is an education and can open up the mind to so much more and I cannot wait to share more of my travel adventures and stories with you.
I am joining up with the Travel Tuesday at Helene in Between
