Yey to bank holidays, you have got to love a long weekend. On monday we decided to take a little drive down to Penarth, a little seaside town near Cardiff, in the Vale of Glamorgan. it has an amazing old victorian pier, which is in abit of state of disrepair but that almost adds to the charm of it. The weather was a little hit and miss with breaks of sunshine. We tried to get a seat outside the very popular figtree for a cup of coffee but being a bank holiday I think everyone else had the same idea. Which actually worked out to our advantage as we enjoyed amazing Tapas in the Ocho lounge, a cafe bar found in the centre of the town. It was a busy, bustling bar filled with people of all ages and the service was great. I had hummus and mozzarella with cherry tomatoes while John went for the pesto and chilli chicken - Arthur also joined in as he loves hummus. After a walk around there beautiful maintained park, that has hedges cut in the shape of birds, we headed back to the pier for an ic......

Easy as pancakes
You have got to love long weekends!!! This weekend has been rather erratic, with house views, photography shows, coffee shop stops and entertaining a baby on the brink of walking. In between all of this I still love to fit in cooking and baking. I always try and make a well balanced supper but with the mornings be busy I don't often have time to bake so I thought I'd whip up these fairly healthy pancakes, made with low fat yogurt and soya flour. It went down really well with the whole family, including Arthur. John and I are still on a mini-mission to visit every Cafe in Cardiff that does american style pancakes - it's my one vice! John tucking into the pancakes Recipe 175ml Low Fat Yogurt (I used Greek) Approx 100ml soya milk (add to the consistency you want) 1 large egg 2 tbsp melted butter 2-3 tbsp Agave or honey 100g self-raising flour 50g soya flour Simple easy peasy and top with whatever you want. On another note I really wish I was in NYC for the......
So both John and I had interviews during the week - John with a city centre barbershop and Me for a part-time Photography position. They are both quite creative jobs so you have to get a balance of presentable/smart while also approachable and individual. It was a beautiful summery kind if day but by the afternoon it started to get alittle chilly, I am not ready for summer to be over, not just yet anyway, as Cardiff is a beautiful place when the sun is out. I had bought this dress from White Stuff earlier in the season and hadn't had a chance to wear it yet so I took advantage of the few warm days we had left. Laura is wearing a Dress by White Stuff, Necklace - Laura Ashley, Bag - Radley, Shoes - Office, Belt - thrifted John is wearing a Shirt by Fred Perry, Albam Jeans, Quoddy Shoes, Fjall Raven Rucksack, Urban Outfitters sunglasses, Timex Watch Winter is coming. ...

Daks for Girls Daks for Boys
So every now and then something catches your eye and this week it's the new Daks lookbook. For those who are not aware of DAKS - it's a classic British brand and it truly celebrates that face and that's why we like it. it's one of those labels that has been around forever - well since 1894 which is a pretty longtime, and yet a lot of people are not that aware of it. So about a week ago the Daks mini-lookbook came through my postbox and I just felt I had to share it with you, as the tailoring (which they are know for) is great and everything looks so well fitted next time I am in London and I going to visit the flagship store. Here are a few images from their mini lookbook. ...

Lounge with Junior and outfit post
So we often try and go to new places on the weekend and explore Cardiff - even though it's a small city there is always somewhere new popping up that we haven't tried yet. Unfortunately this does not always go hand in hand with our attempt to eat healthy, as our first stop was Cafe Junior - a fairtrade, organic coffee housed in a beautiful church and provides a haven for families as it has a massive play area for young kids with tons of wooden toys. The staff where really helpful and friendly and I loved my chilli chicken salad while John had an italian burger, with a raspberry and white chocolate muffin as a little treat. Arthur also look very stylish with his Gap jeans and hand knitted cardigan. After Cafe Junior we walked to Buffalo lounge - it use to be a cool cafe bar called Mr Smiths - but what is has been replaced with is equally as cool - really quirky interior which I love!! We only stayed for a drink but the food looks awesome so we will be going back. Arthur loo......

Guess my Inventory
So thinking about the Vogue September issue Laura mentioned I thought I would mention one of my favourite Male Sartorialist style magazines - Inventory magazine - a curation of ideas in product, craft and culture. They have great interviews and editorial pieces. I came across their winter holiday gift list and if you ever stuck with ideas for your man for Christmas, believe me, I would take anyone of these prepped up gifts!
