Four of the best places to shop in London

Shopping in London

If you’re a shopaholic getting one of the many daily trains to London is sure to please. Whether you’re looking for high-end stores or something a little more quirky you’ll find it in the capital, but due to its size if you’re unfamiliar with the place it can be difficult knowing where to start. Here are a few of our favourite places to indulge in a bit of retail therapy:

Oxford Street

It’s impossible to ignore London’s Oxford Street when it comes to shopping, with a vast selection of big name stores on offer it’s always worth a look if you’ve got a little cash to splash. Among the familiar retailers are Debenhams, John Lewis and Selfridges, as well as many other high street favourites. As you’d expect with its location in the heart of the city things can get a little crowded, but breaking off in to a side street should allow you to escape the crowds and find a cafe to take a break.

Brick Lane

If you’re a fan of vintage clothing then Brick Lane is well worth a visit. With its Shoreditch location it’s established a reputation as a place where arts and culture thrive, meaning it now has far more to offer than a wide selection of curry houses. As you stroll through the area you’ll see street art, galleries and studios and if you visit on Sunday you can enjoy the market, where if you look hard enough you could find a bargain!

Boxpark

While you’re over in Shoreditch, why not also take a walk to Boxpark? This pop-up mall is located next to Shoreditch High Street station and features a range of brands – like Nike, Puma and Vans –in refitted shipping containers. It’s also home to a good selection of places to eat, including Thai & Lai Street Food, Pieminister, FalafeLicious and Simply Fish, meaning it’s worth checking out for those getting trains to London.

Covent Garden

A popular place for newcomers and Londoners alike to head, Covent Garden is a bustling area crammed with great shops and numerous street performers. Whether it’s fashion, food or fantastic art you’re after there’s something to meet your needs in the area. It means it’s a great place to pick up a gift for someone special, with everything from big brands to smaller, specialist stores.
